Since 2001, Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure has provided more than $5.2 million in research funding to highly qualified research investigators and physician-scientists from 22 institutions. This award money has funded 54 Project Awards, 3 Young Investigator Awards and 1 Fellowship Award.
Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure funds research that translates promising laboratory successes into clinically meaningful improvements. This approach is designed to provide innovative researchers with the support required to make critical translational breakthroughs.
Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure seeks to fund proposals that will have an immediate impact, and we work actively and partner with investigators to overcome obstacles in achieving the goal of the research.
The organization supports translational research projects primarily in the following areas:
- Development of molecular targeted therapeutics for brain cancer (with emphasis placed on studies that will lead to clinical trials within 18 months)
- Diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers of disease status and response to therapy in glioma (includes serological biomarkers, anatomic/physiologic imaging)
